Bill Jackson Recap

Saturday, May 4 2019 - Lockport Bill Jackson Invite

The weather felt like an early April meet with cool temperatures and on and off showers, but as the team closes in on championship season it was another step in the right direction for many of the guys on the team and a chance to hopefully learn for others to be at their best next week.

Gabe Carrero earns the #PRChain with a 5 foot PR in discus and a 2nd place finish in the C flight. Gabe was one of many great C flight performances.

Austin Emrath just ran out of race to catch 2nd place to finish a close 3rd in the C 1600 running a 10 second PR and smashing the 4:50 barrier. Austin’s race was one of many distance highlights on the night.

Anthony Nieves also had a high finish in the C 400 running a new PR to finish 2nd. The best part of Anthony’s race was that he ran with the confidence we saw during the indoor season that had been missing outdoor so far, a great sign for Anthony as we get ready for Conference.

Christopher Miller had another PR in the pole vault. Chris was a late add to our pole vault crew but has taken to the event very well.

Colin Walzer and Cam Henderson both had PRs in the shot put.

Josh Cercone stepped up and ran the 4x200 in a pinch, Josh was unable to pole vault due to an elbow injury but still helped the team in a big way with a strong anchor leg on the 4x200.

Dean Eubanks ran a strong race to knock 16 seconds off his PR in the 3200, breaking 11 for the first time in the C flight.

Paul DeAvila ran his 2nd 3200 PR this week and then came back at the end of the night to run a PR in the 4x400.

Jordan Facio ran 2 PRs in the 800, and then dropping down to the 200 he ran a PR there as well.

Ryan Bonomo cracked 4:50 for the first time running 4:49.41, and of course he was still able to pull off his post-race backflip.

The team was a little thin tonight on the sprint side with some injuries and sickness going around the team. The guys will be back to full health on Wednesday as we head to Plainfield East for the SPC Conference Championship.
